If something gets your attention twice on separate occasions, then

Gaza conflict map2.png
"Gaza conflict map2" by Mor - self-made, from:[1][2]. Via Wikipedia.

I rarely watch TBN, but I watched last night. Prophet Kim Clement was sharing his recent trip to Israel. A few clips showed how the people welcomed him and his team and how grateful they were for the support (monetary and service). I missed most of this broadcast. Kim ended the show with a call to prayer.

Today, I find Kim's newsletter in my Inbox: Pray, pray, pray for Israel. Well, I don't need to be told a third time.

This comment in his email has me thinking and you'll probably have a selah moment, too. (The Amplified Bible translate selah as "pause and calmly think about that.")
Today, during my prayer and preparations for our PROPHETIC WORKSHOP, I felt the Spirit of God pushing me to gather everyone together to minister to Him and then pray for Israel. Once we have done this I will teach on "SEEING BEYOND THE VEILS". Bad reports, negative religion, and media put veils over our eyes, which causes short-sightedness, rendering us ineffective and non-productive in just about every area of our lives. Today I will release a word that will remove many of these veils, giving you access to a whole new world of SIGHT!
I highlighted the sentence that shouted at me. Veils. They exist. This sentence gave me the revelation (insight) that I've been praying about concerning my visions, dreams, and goals.

Did you get anything out of that? Share.

P.S. You can read the entire email here

Insecurity in a believer?!

Yes, it happens. No matter how much Word (the Bible) you know or quote, you (or someone you know) might have insecure tendencies.

No one wants to admit to being insecure or sometimes feeling insecure. I think insecurity comes about in two major ways: 1) natural inclination; 2) life events. Some common ways it shows up are through jealousy, perfection syndrome, diva syndrome, obsessions, and pessimism.

Scriptures for emotional healing include:
  • Psalms 138:3
  • Jeremiah 29:11
  • Philippians 1:6
  • Mark 9:23
Watch my video. Share your thoughts on this subject.

Listen to Beth Moore speak candidly and scripturally about insecurity:

Marsha's popcorn sermon- video recorded

I'm working from home these days. It isn't necessarily by choice. Out of necessity. Honestly, my dream job is a job where I set my own hours, have ideal places to work (home and remote offices), and attract paying clients. Currently, my faith is being stretched - tried and tested. I would have NEVER quit my paying job to do what I'm doing. That's another story...

Until today, I've been putting off purchasing a webcam and microphone. Now that I'm consulting more and running my online beauty store, I felt it was time. I want to create videos and sound bites. With my working remotely, it is necessary to do video chats and web conference calls (Skype, Google Talk, etc).

Tonight, I made several cheesy videos which I will not show you.

But I will share a recording that I did. It's an amateur video, but the lesson is biblically sound.

In this recording, I'm teaching on spiritual gifts. (My dominant spiritual gift is teaching. See my spiritual gifts profile.) It's a popcorn sermon. What's a popcorn sermon? That's what my instructors - seasoned pastors and ministry leaders, in ministry school called a short sermon, preaching or teaching.

Listen to me talk about spiritual gifts

(I had a mix-up with one scripture. You'll hear it. I meant to say 1Corinthians 12:6-11.)

Repost: Waiting on God

I must admit that I am impatient when it comes to answered prayer or the transfer from the invisible to the visible.

I like this blog  post by Today God is First (TGIF).

Key Verse: Isaiah 30:18 (AMP)
And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]!

Key Point:  "We must wait for God’s timing and embrace wherever we are in the process. When we find contentment in that place, we begin to experience God in ways we never thought possible.? TGIF blog. August 10, 2010

The discernment thing, part 1

You hear this sentence often, "The Church lacks true discernment."

Troubling. Yet, true. Not anything new.

I have a lot more to say about this, but it is hard to get it across to you since you've picked up this bad habit of not listening. By this time you ought to be teachers yourselves, yet here I find you need someone to sit down with you and go over the basics on God again, starting from square one—baby's milk, when you should have been on solid food long ago! Milk is for beginners, inexperienced in God's ways; solid food is for the mature, who have some practice in telling right from wrong. Hebrews 5:11-14 (The Message)

Charismatics and Pentecostals used to boast of their perceived ability to discern better than their Baptists, Methodists, or any denominational brothers and sisters in Christ.

I admit that when I rededicated my life to the Lord  and received the baptism with the Holy Spirit, I thought that I, too was "all that."

I was an engineering student attending a major university away from home and begin attending a very small church where healing, deliverance, and the gifts of the Spirit were highly celebrated. During this time, I realized that I was gifted with the ability to "see" beyond what was present or in plain sight. I wouldn't call it the gift of prophecy, but during intercessory prayer, my prayers were developing into what is known as prophetic intercession. Many years later, I recognized that I flowed more in the revelation gifts  - word of wisdom. word of knowledge, and discerning of spirits.(1 Corinthians 12:8-11)

Because I have always been a practical and logical thinker, I didn't want to get off balanced. So, I  read scriptures often. Through reading and the preached word, I got the revelation that discernment is connected to studying, reading and applying the Word of God. Reading with an understanding. Not just reading the Bible as a history book with fascinating stories.. Applying what you read to your life.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV)
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. James 1:22-24 (NLT)
And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean. Ezekial 44:23 (KJV)
For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 (AMP)
After several church and personal experiences that shook me up during 1985-1992, I treasured my relationship with God like He really is my best friend and confidant. I prayed to discern more accurately. To not be judgmental. To listen to His voice. To follow the Holy Spirit's nudges. To judge myself daily or regularly. To not get entangled in deception. To rid myself of modern day idols.

Looking back, I can identify why I wavered between true and fasle discernment. I noticed some key hindrances.

Here are 8 hindrances to discernment
  1. Pride (also spiritual pride or self-righteousness)
  2. Deception
  3. Unforgiveness
  4. Habitual sin
  5. Little or no understanding of the Bible
  6. Lust (any)
  7. Little or no true worship and prayer
  8. Idolatry (any)
Of course, you can think of more than eight things. I know that these eight things interfered with my discerning right from wrong, God's will and timing, or when God was speaking directly about a matter and when He was not speaking at all, but the human spirit, an evil spirit or a controlling spirit was speaking.

Have I "arrived ?" Always discerning correctly. No. I do not always get it right, but I am quicker to check my heart and listen patiently in order to discern.

Of course, properly reading and studying the Word grows you up spiritually.  Praying often and praying various types of prayers increases and sharpens your spiritual ears.

What do I mean by various types of prayers?  How can you grow in fellowship with God and hear Him speak if you only ask Him to meet your needs and desires (aka petition prayer)?

A balanced prayer life must include what I called the most neglected prayers.

Neglected Prayers
  • Praise
  • Thanksgiving
  • Intercession
  • Forgiveness/Repentance
  • Declaring His Will (Word)

I have more to say about discernment. I will save my thoughts for another blog post.

How to define your calling

A calling is your service to the Body of Christ and others, as an ambassador of Christ.

Everyone is called. A calling is not reserved for pastors and evangelists.

According to Matthew 22:14 (KJV), "Many are called, but few are chosen." Of course, this scripture is not necessarily talking about your mission in life, but the scripture makes a sound point.

Many people are not fulfilling their calling - not using their gifts and talents. And so we have many unfulfilled people. Unfulfilled people are unhappy. They are tempted to seek ungodly or destructive ways to become fulfilled. Sometimes, they get distracted and side-tracked doing good things, but not the best  things that compliment their gifts.

How do you know your calling?

I have been taught that you identify your calling in these following ways:
  1. Notice what God is doing in your family.
  2. Listen to what the Lord has spoken to you directly.
  3. Observe where there is a need and how compelled you are to fulfill it.
  4. Consider your vocation.
Your career and calling could be the same. The latest buzz word in the Church is "marketplace ministry."  The concept is not new. In fact, you can think of it as the fufillment of the Great Commission:

He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Mark 16:15 NIV
A fantastic wave of creativity is happening in the Body of Christ. We are shedding religious thinking about ministry and embracing various, 21st century venues for ministry.

Whether you called to five-fold ministry (pastor, teacher, apostle, evangelist, or prophet), ministry of helps, marketplace ministry, or something else, you are required to perfect it and be a good steward of it.

Do you need some help identifying your calling and gifts? Maybe you need a little assurance.

21st Century Church Etiquette

Suggestions for a pleasant worship experience

  1. Smile and speak to your neighbors (seated to your left and right). Please don't let the first time you speak, be to demand that s/he move down a seat for your friend who is 45 minutes late. Also, don't let it be your motioning with your hands and making eye contact with your neighbor's pencil while avoiding contact with your neighbor's eyes. Translation: Let me borrow your pen, now! This action is becoming quite common. What happened to asking politely? "May I borrow your pen to jot down that scripture, please?"
  2. Please refrain from smoking before service. Look, I'm not judging. Smoking is your business. However, cigarette smoke really does a number on people suffering with allergies. Last Sunday, I had to change seats within 15 minutes of being seated because the residue was overwhelming. Too late. I suffered a near migraine-sized headache for the entire 90 minutes of the service.
  3. Please brush your teeth and gargle after eating breakfast. Some people act like morning breath isn't an issue. The best mouth washes are those that kill the bacteria and tackle the volatile sulfur compounds that cause bad breath- CloSYS or BreathRx
  4. Pay attention to the sermon and stop checking your email, Facebook or Twitter.
  5. Be engaged. Flow with the service. When prayer is happening, you should be praying. As an intercessor, this is my pet peeve! If you have trouble focusing during intercessory prayer, read/pray the Psalms. Or go old school - fall on your knees, clasp your hands and close your eyes. Recite the Lord's prayer. Any of these options is better than staring into space, fidgeting (as if you wish this part of the service would end), playing with your iPhone, noting the fashions and comparing yourself to the fashionistas, or catching up on latest news and gossip. When worship is happening with songs, you should be singing (lip singing is allowed) and/or clapping. When reading the Bible is happening, you should be following along in your Bible, your neighbor's Bible or the projector screen.
  6. Smile often and genuinely Where did we get this idea that being spiritual means looking so serious and deep? It's OK to smile or look pleasant when you're praying or praising.
  7. Respect your elders. Give them first choice. Be patient.
  8. Respect the ushers. Respond politely. Say thank you often.
  9. Show genuine compassion to everyone. If you see a need, be the first to fill it. Pray, too. If someone shares a need and you don't have the means to fill it, pray with them immediately and encourage them. Avoid unsolicited advice. Listen before you speak.
  10. Take advantage of children's church and the nursery. If Little Raquim refuses to use his inside voice, then take the initiative to sit with him on the back rows. Or head for the lobby where you can watch the service on TV monitors. In the lobby, Little Raquim can cut up in utter freedom without those nasty looks from your neighbors.
Stepping down from my spiritual soapbox.

Do you have any suggestions to add?

You really do have what you say

I strive very hard to not engage in gossip, backbiting, or negative talk. It's not easy. And when you don't participate, others who feed off negativity (hate this word, but it fits here) may reject you, turn on you, or (we hope) avoid certain conversations with you.

Recently, I completed a personal branding quiz that required feedback from friends, coworkers, and associates. One of my top attributes was "positive."

On two separate occasions, I received compliments like, "positive energy" and "refreshing."

What's my point? I'm not bragging on me. I'm sharing the the results of biblical meditation (aka faith confessions, speaking the Word, affirmations).

Several years ago, I developed a Christian mantra based on Philippians 4: 8 & 9. I wanted to transform myself. To set myself apart from complainers, whiners, and messy folks. What better way to make the shift than by meditating on God's Word.

Check out The Message version of one of my favorite scriptures:

Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

What's your Christian mantra?

Rewards...I want them all

In my book club and local prayer group , we read the most revealing book about the rewards that God has for us, A Life God Rewards: Why everything you do today matters forever by Bruce Wilkinson. It was nothing like I thought or had heard. In fact, I can't remember ever hearing a sermon on it. Oh sure, you know the sermon about many mansions and abundant life here and now...soteria. But check this out.

  1. Did you know that God rewards you for seeking Him through prayer and fasting? (Matthew 6:6; Hebrews 11:6)
  2. He rewards you for respecting your employer and being a faithful and good steward? (Matthew 24:45-47; Ephesians 6:8; Colossians 3:22-24)
  3. Self-denial for the kingdom's sake is also rewarded. How about that! (Matthew 16:24-27)
  4. Your ministering to the needy won't go unnoticed either. (Mark 9:41)
  5. If you've suffered for Him, you will get a reward. (Luke 6:22-23)
  6. Sacrifices for God reap good things, too. (Luke 6:35 & Matthew 19:29)
  7. Whether or not anyone gives you a personal prophecy, announces your name publicly or features you as "tither of the year", God takes notice when you share your time, talent, and treasure to promote God's kingdom. (Matthew 6:3-4; 1 Timothy 6:18-19)
You gotta get this book . It will expand your thinking beyond the offering bucket rewards. Oh, yes I do believe in giving these monies! But knowing that it's more than just your financial offering that gets God's attention is very encouraging.

I miss Hershi

Last week, I chose put our dog down. She was a Rottweiler and Chow mix, almost 12 years old and very sickly.

I am very sad and even depressed. My friends, who are pet lovers, tell me that I am experiencing grief becuase this pet was like a family member.

Sometimes, I wish I had just let her suffer and pass way peacefully at home. Yet, that is really selfish.

Our once fiesty and energetic dog had become a blury eyed, weary, and lifeless animal. It was disturbing to see her struggle, vomit almost every meal, even water, and shed skin (excessive pet dander).

Vet visits cost more than I could handle when I was employed, but I managed somehow. (Somebody didn't get paid that week.) The vet prescribed medications that seemed to work for a month or two. On our last visit, the vet suggested more expensive tests. Of course, there were no guarantees. Now, that I am unemployed, there is no money to go through series of tests and medications.

I wish I had her here with me. She was so loyal and faithful. I wander if she stayed alive to protect us. She was the best watchdog. You couldn't come near our yard without hearing her menacing bark and seeing a flash of her sharp teeth.

Will I get another pet? I can't see myself getting attached like this again and knowing that one day this will happen again. We are blessed that she lived so long.

Unanswered prayer?

Does God answer all prayer, no matter what?

Some folks think so.

Some folks think that God picks and chooses which prayers He will answer.

Some folks think He doesn't answer any prayers.

Then there those of us who have read and studied the Bible... we believe that God answers prayers of faith that are based on His will, which is found in His Word.

When I was younger and desperately seeking answers to all things spiritual, I wanted to know if God really answers all prayers.

In my search for a comprehensive study on prayer, I discovered R.A. Torrey's How to Pray. This book is a classic.

Chapter 9, Hindrances to Prayer explains why sometimes, scriptural prayers don't get answered.

  1. Selfish purpose or wrong motives. James 4:3
  2. Sin. Isaiah 59:1,2 & Psalm 66:18
  3. Idols in the heart Ezekial 14:3
  4. Stinginess. Proverbs 21:13 & Luke 6:38
  5. Unforgiveness. Mark 11:25
  6. Wrong relationship between husband and wife. 1 Peter 3:7
  7. Unbelief. James 1:5-7
Next time, you pray scripturally and feel like your prayer is hitting the ceiling, check yourself against the list. If you pass the test, then let patience have its perfect work. You will reap in due season if you don't give up.

Please don't get into condemnation if you prayed for healing and you didn't see results. Or a tragedy occurred even though you prayed that it wouldn't. Maybe you prayed for a loved one to live, but he/she died anyway. These are delicate situations that require a separate discussion about timing, the will of man, spiritual and natural laws and spiritual opposition. For now, don't blame God. Don't beat yourself up. Look to Him for comfort and understanding.

Let's pray-

Heavenly Father, thank you that you are not a man that you should lie or the Son of man that you should repent. Your promises are yes and amen. There is no fault in you. Open my eyes to see where I might be missing it. Is it lack of revelation? Fear? Unbelief? Or any of these hindrances to prayer. I am not too ashamed to confess and repent. In fact, doing this will bring me closer to you. There is no condemnation here. I trust that the Holy Spirit will convict and guide me into all truth. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Changing my perspective and fulfilling my purpose

While driving one morning, I had a heated discussion with God. Well, let's say that I was passionate about my subject. Sum it up as - "Why God why?" "When God when?"

In the midst of my rant, I saw my screenplay- what I was saying that I wanted, what I was (wasn't) praying, and what I was actually doing about it.

Imbalance.

Then this scripture came to my thoughts:

A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great people. Proverbs 18:16

We have gifts - talents, expertise, knowledge, experience, skills. Wherever we are in life (physical location or goal time line), we should be sharing our gifts. And those gifts will bless others and open doors of opportunity.

The light bulb came on. My "aha" moment of truth.

I was desperately seeking opportunities in places where my gifts were under appreciated, not appreciated, not wanted, or just plain not understood. Yet, I was saying (affirmations) :

I am brilliant in my work. I am filled with creative ideas that benefit me and others. I have unlimited earning potential. I make a fortune doing what I love.

My prayers were

Deliver me from this crazy situation(s). I want out, now! Amen.

How do you bring balance and order to personal chaos?

  1. Pray and believe the same thing. Mark 11:24 (Amplified Bible) For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].

  2. Realize that nothing is impossible. Mark 9:23 (New Living Translation) "What do you mean, 'If I can' ? "Jesus asked. "Anything is possible if a person believes." My library is filled with true life stories of people who did what others said was absolutely impossible. You and I have our own personal testimonies about overcoming difficult or seemingly hopeless situations. Think about it.

  3. Shine where you are. Matthew 5:16 (NIV) In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Whether in a pit or a palace, we have to show strength in character and excellence in our craft. Character still matters. And while being educated is a good thing, continuing education is even better.

  4. Promote yourself to the best audience. Believe it or not, everybody doesn't know what you do and that you are really great at it. Friends and family included. And everybody doesn't care. Friends and family included. But someone is desperately seeking what you have to offer. The saying goes that there is no distance in prayer. While you are praying for opportunities, also seek opportunities locally and abroad. I'll admit that I prefer face-to-face meetings over lunch or dinner when discussing ministry, business or just life. However, that isn't always possible. So, I take advantage of online social networking. You can find a social network for just about anything.

  5. Know that you are valuable, needed, and sought-after regardless of your personal economic situation or the global economic situation. Genesis 41:56 & 57 (English Standard Version) So when the famine had spread over all the land, Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe in the land of Egypt. Moreover, all the earth came to Egypt to Joseph to buy grain, because the famine was severe over all the earth. As I was mediating that morning, I was reminded of Joesph in the Bible. His story is amazing. It would make a great drama movie. The life lessons are numerous. In every place Joseph shined. He was respected and sought-after. You have to read his story to see where he began and appreciate where he ended up.

  6. Expect more. This also came to my thoughts as I was driving. Yes, bad news abounds. We're surrounded by it. I'm a news junkie, but sometimes, I have to shut it down. When I face negativity and limitations whether external or internal, I am reminded of my personal mantra (based on Philippians 4:8&9):
I am at my best when I fill my mind and meditate on things that are true, honest, reputable, authentic, pure, and compelling; the best, not the worst; lovely, not ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. When I do this God, who makes everything work together for my good, will work me into his most excellent harmonies.

    Let's pray -

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for what you have already done in my life. Thank you for what you are doing right now. Open my eyes to see situations and circumstances as opportunities to shine. Wherever I am, whether on purpose, by default, accident or mishap, I trust you in the midst of it. Knowing that your purpose and plans for my life are not canceled nor on hold, I continue to use my gifts. As a result, You will reward me with favor and opportunities. And I promise to appreciate it and manage it properly. In Jesus name. Amen.

The fine art of genuineness

I'm an observer. A people watcher.

I could never stay awake when reading psychology textbooks. My studying human behavior comes by listening and observing.

Too often, we say one thing and do another.

We say to someone facing difficulty, "I love you. I'm praying for you." Then we walk away and forget about the person and his/her problem.

We ask people, "How are you?" and never stop to listen to the answer.

When another believer asks us, "How are you?" we quickly respond, "Oh, I'm blessed." Sometimes, we are too proud to ask for prayer. Or too ungrateful to share a praise report or testimony that doesn't have anything to do with a new car or a big raise.

To be genuine is to be FOR REAL. Authentic. True. Legit (a.k.a. legitimate).

The opposite is to be PHONY. Fake. Deceitful. Two-faced.

We expect an element of phony from Hollywood. They're actors and actresses. But should we see the same behavior in the Church, The Body of Christ?

Absolutely not.

Romans 12:9 (KJV) Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil;cleave to that which is good.

Roman 12:9 (AMP)[Let your] love be sincere (a real thing); hate what is evil [loathe all ungodliness, turn in horror from wickedness], but hold fast to that which is good.

How can we be genuine in the midst of insincerity, hypocrisy, and self-absorption? In the world. And in the Church.

PRAYER:

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalms 19:14

I do not want to be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs]. I want to be transformed by the renewing of my mind so that I may prove what is the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2

His plans are superior to ours

Standing firm on His promises

Do you ever doubt that what you want to see happen in your life will ever happen?

That time will pass you by while you are waiting on a dream, a vision, a prayer to manifest?

You feel like backing off. Maybe even giving up. Living status quo.

It's during those times that you have to run to God. Bury yourself in His Word. Cherishing every promise.

But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works. - Psalm 73:28 KJV

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: - Philippians 1:6 KJV

Scripture for Today - Perfect love conquers all

1 John 4:18 (KJV) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear:because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:18 (AMP) There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love's complete perfection].

1 John 4:18 (The Message) God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we're free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ's. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.

Prayer for Boldness
from Prayers That Avail Much, Volume 1 by Word Ministries, Inc

Father, in the name of Jesus, I am of good courage, I pray that You grant to me that with all boldness I speak forth Your Word. I pray that freedom of utterance be given me that I may open my mouth to proclaim boldly the mystery of the good news of the Gospel - that I may declare it boldly as I ought to do.

Father, I belive I recive that boldness now in the name of Jesus. Therefore, I have boldness to enter into the Holy of Holies by the blood of Jesus. Because of my faith in Him, I dare to have boldness (courage and confidence) of free access - an unreserved approach to You with freedom and without fear. I can draw fearlessly and confidently and boldy near to Your throne of grace and receive mercy and find grace to help in good time for my every need. I am bold to pray. I come to the throne of God with my petitions, and for others who do not know how to ascend to the throne.

I will be bold toward Satan, demons, evils spirits, sickness, diesease, and poverty for Jesus is Head of all rule and authority - of every angelic principality and power. Disarming those who were ranged against us, Jesus made a bold display and public example of them triumphing overthem. I am bold to say, "Satan, you are a defeated foe, for my God and my Jesus reign!"

I take comfort and am encouraged and confidently and boldly say, "The Lord is my Helper, I will not be seized with alarm - I will not fear or dread or be terrified. What can man do to me?" I dare to proclaim the Word toward heaven, toward hell, and toward earth. I am bold as a lion for I have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I am complete in Him! Praise the name of Jesus!

Never would have made it

Two years and some months.

Healing. Forgiveness.

The bitter sting is gone. But the memories remain. Reminders of the pain and shame.

Yet, I am not bitter. I was very bitter, angry, hurt, and rejected for a few months. But God. Too many prayers and promises hanging in the balance.

However, when someone shares what they are experiencing which sounds so much like what I went through, tears flow. Prayers and encouraging words are offered.

Who comforts (consoles and encourages) us in every trouble (calamity and affliction), so that we may also be able to comfort (console and encourage) those who are in any kind of trouble or distress, with the comfort (consolation and encouragement) with which we ourselves are comforted (consoled and encouraged) by God. ~ 2 Corinthians 1:4 (Amp)

What has changed in two years and some months?

True repentance? Only God knows the heart. Who am I to judge?

I have changed, though.

Never would have made it without You...
I'm stronger.
I'm wiser.
I'm better.
Much better.
When I look back over all You brought me through, I can see that You were the One that I held onto.

Do I trust Him?

Several weeks ago, distressed, frustrated, and weary, I called a friend, fellow minister for advice. My voicemail didn't give hint that I was a "mess" and it didn't express the sense of urgency that I felt.

Fortunately, my friend called me back within an hour. Knowing that she (and her family) had recently made a very tough decision that would affect longtime relationships, I expressed my concerns without trying to be emotional. She put the right words in my mouth, "When do you cut your losses?"

Yep. That summed it up.

As we talked and she shared her personal experience, it became clear that I was not trusting God in my situation (the one that I was sharing with her, as well as others) .

When you have done all you know to do, stand.

Ephesians 6:13 (Amp) says "Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]."

I had prayed. Prayed for wisdom, protection, and vindication. Even prayed for my enemies. Spoke the Word.

Yet, I was stressing out.

If God was leading me to take a leap of faith, then why couldn't I do that?

If I believed God's word, then why couldn't I relax. 1Peter 5:7 says to cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you.

I love the way The Message Bible breaks it down:

So be content with who you are, and don't put on airs. God's strong hand is on you; he'll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.
1Peter 5:6,7

After that conversation, daily I took stock of every area of my life where there was little or no trust. Flat out fear.

A week or so later, I was sitting at a stop light and noticed a construction crew to my left. Their company logo and message was painted on the truck's side. Their message was most powerful:

This company trusts in God.
